Tennacity at Cape Flatter
Tenacity at Cape Flattery is an example of what persistent punishing winds can do to a tough species of pine. Pinus contorta is found along the west coast of North America and has a real tenacity for life, growing on cliffs and ledges in the most hostile of windy environments. The tree exemplified here is found hanging on the edge a cliff overlooking the Pacific ocean at Cape Flattery, the westernmost point of the contiguous United States.
